A comfortable 3-0 win over St Michel for Mamelodi Sundowns, but it should have been a lot more.
We over-complicated things a few times, at other times we rushed ourselves, but all-in-all, the win was easy.
On another day this could have been 10-0. But I will take this as a warm-up for the real battles to come.
My three best players were three experienced players:
1 Surprise Moriri - some young players should watch how Surprise approaches the game. He is a consummate professional, and always seem to know when to run, when to pass, and when to shoot.
2 Teko Modise - The ‘Navigator’ might not have been at 100% but he remains the heartbeat of the team. Involved in almost every attacking move the Brazilians launch.
3 Alje Schut - Schut leads from the front, albeit at the back! It is not just his solid defending, perhaps there are even better defenders, but it is how he is able to link with the other departments, his passing game is really good.
My least three impressive players tonight:
1 Asavela Mbekile - it’s not that he doesn’t anything wrong, but sometimes I forget he’s on the field he’s so quiet. Needs to raise his game to be a Sundowns regular.
2 Mame Niang - caused trouble for the Seychelles team, but should have got into more scoring positions. A horses for a courses player for the Brazilians.
3 Themba Zwane - not really unimpressive, just that the other five players not mentioned probably made more of an impact on me.
