Orlando Pirates could overtake Mamelodi Sundowns in the race for a Bafana Bafana midfielder, the Siya crew has been informed.

Insiders privy to information, close to both the club and the player, have indicated that the Buccaneers are working hard to land the signature of 23-year-old Jayden Adams ahead of the Brazilians.

The sources added that Pirates are believed to be willing to include player additions along with cash that they would have to pay to Stellenbosch FC to secure Adams.

"At the moment the way things stand, Pirates are in a much better position to sign Jayden (Adams). They have offered Stellenbosch FC money plus Goodman Mosele for that deal to go through. Yes, it's still early stages but that is how things start. They could actually overtake Mamelodi Sundowns in that race. They are confident they can have the deal sealed in the next transfer window period which is in January," the Siya source stated.

A second insider stated that the presence of Deano Van Rooyen at Pirates could influence the move, as the two are very close to each other and Adams could be interested in playing together with him again.

"It's believed that Van Rooyen has been talking to Jayden (Adams) and telling him about life at Pirates. They are very close and that could also influence the move. But it will all depend on the talks between Stellenbosch FC and Orlando Pirates and if Mamelodi Sundowns could go all the way and meet the price tag that Stellies had put up towards the end of the last transfer window in September," the second source stated.

The Bafana midfielder, who was also linked with Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, picked up a bronze medal at the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year in the Ivory Coast.

As Pirates are expected to intensify their efforts to try to sign Adams, the potential inclusion of Mosele in the deal and the influence of Van Rooyen could play crucial roles. Fans will be eager to see how this transfer link unfolds and whether Pirates can secure the talented midfielder in the upcoming January transfer window.

Soccer Laduma contacted Pirates for comment but the club had not responded by the time this report was published.
