With Borussia Dortmund sitting at the bottom of the Bundesliga after 19 matches, it inspired the Fan Park Crew to look at a few sides that were possibly too good to be relegated at that time.
West Ham 2002 -2003
It was really a horrible season for West Ham as they lost their manager Glenn Roeder, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour. That season they had the likes of Jermaine Defoe, Joe Cole and Michael Carrick all playing for them and they still managed to get relegated.
Leeds United 2003-2004
Believe it or not, but Leeds was once a high flying Premiership team. They were in the Champions League at one stage, but after a financial meltdown the club went through a dark period in its history. In 2004 when they got relegated, they had the like of Alan Smith, Paul Robinson, Mark Viduka and Lucas Radebe in their ranks.
Italy has had its fair share of corruption cases in sport, but back in 2006 the Italian authorities did a match fixing investigation and found Juventus guilty. The Italian giants were forced to play in Serie B the following season.
Newcastle United 2008-2009
Newcastle were in all sorts of problems in 2009 and just couldn’t seem to string results together when it mattered most. They got relegated for the first time since the inception of the Premier League, and had the likes of Michael Owen, Obafemi Martins, Fabricio Coloccini and Ryan Taylor in the ranks.
Can you think of anymore sides that were too good to be relegated?
