With the Premier Soccer League now in its final round, teams who have not much left to play for may field players who have not been given the chance for the most part of the season. In turn, we could well have a sneak preview of which players to look out for next season.
Here are a few of them.
Lorenzo Gordinho – Kaizer Chiefs
A youth product at Amakhosi, Gordinho has been tipped to achieve great things in the future and it may even come next season. Fellow defenders Eric Mathoho and Tefu Mashamaite have not yet committed their future to the club and Gordinho may sniff a chance in the first team, should one of them leave.
Riyaad Norodien- Ajax Cape Town
Norodien surfaced quite late on in the season for coach Roger De Sal, but he has not put a foot wrong since. The diminutive winger plays the game at speed and has the skill to beat defenders in one-on-one situations. With Keagan Dolly leaving for Mamelodi Sundowns in the near future, Norodien could be seen as the perfect replacement for the starlet.
Jeremy Brockie – SuperSport United
Brockie was an instant hit following his move to South Africa from New Zealand in the January transfer window, and he has since banged in the goals for his new club. He could be a player to watch in the sense that if he manages to uphold his goal ratio, he could even be a top goal scorer contender.
Percy Tau – Mamelodi Sundowns
Tau, like many on this list, has featured mainly in the second half of the season and he has impressed whenever called upon. It was during the MultiChoice Diski challenge and Downs’ CAF Champions League which saw the playmaker gain the trust of coach Pitso Mosimane. It remains to be seen what the talented player can add to the team if given a more important role.
What other players are you keen on seeing in the closing stages of the season, as well as at the start of the next campaign?
