Nabi's Biggest Task At Chiefs

Nabi's Biggest Task At Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi's future at the club could be defined by one element getting out of hand.

Midfielder Gaston Sirino was arguably the most exciting and valuable offensive player for Chiefs in the early stages of the season after scoring two goals and contributing four assists.

However, since the Uruguayan's injury against SuperSport United in the league, he has not been the same.

It's no coincidence that Chiefs' form dropped at almost the same time as the 33-year-old going off form.

Nabi is slowly running out of time to win over Amakhosi fans, who can make life difficult for any coach, once they feel he is not improving the team.

Amid reports that Sirino clashed with the Tunisian coach, who seem to demand more from the former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, the 59-year-old coach may need exercise caution, in order to get the best out of Uruguayan.

As is the case with most star players, you only get the best out of them when their feelings are considered and good mood is created around them.

According to Kermit Erasmus, who played with Sirino at Sundowns, he performs best when he's in the mood.

"Sirino is a great guy, works hard at training and he is his own human being, he is his own person. Very playful on the field and enjoys life," Erasmus said on SoccerBeat YouTube Channel

"You can see the impact he has as a player, when he's in the mood he brings his 'A' game, he still struggles with English but when I was playing with him [at Sundowns] we could communicate without speaking to each other.

"It shows you the football brain he has, very smart, always thinking two steps ahead and if you're not alert around him, he might bypass you with the ball without you expecting and you look stupid. He's one of the smartest players, out of the box, unpredictable on the field," Erasmus added.

The biggest task for Nabi would be to get Sirino playing with a smile again, as Chiefs are desperate for a match winner.

The Glamour Boys will resume Betway Premiership action when they visit TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on Monday afternoon.
