Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi is acutely aware of one glaring issue in his team's performance this season: the lack of a clinical finisher.

Despite leading the Betway Premiership in terms of chances created per match, Chiefs have struggled to convert these opportunities into goals. This disparity has left Nabi searching for a prolific striker who can consistently finish off the chances that his team creates.

The team has an array of attacking talent, but the current crop of strikers has yet to live up to expectations.

Ranga Chivaviro and Ashley Du Preez, two completely different types of forwards, have been given the responsibility to spearhead Chiefs' attack. Chivaviro, a target man known for his aerial ability and physical presence, has been an important part of Chiefs' buildup play. On the other hand, Du Preez offers pace and directness but has struggled with his finishing at times. Both players have netted only two goals apiece this season, which has contributed to the team's inability to capitalise on their dominance in possession and chance creation.

What highlights the team's pressing need for a clinical finisher even further is the fact that the club's top scorer so far this season is young winger Mduduzi Shabalala.

The 20-year-old, playing as a winger, has netted three goals, outscoring both of the designated strikers, highlighting the club's needs for a striker who can consistently put the ball in the back of the net when presented with chances, something Chiefs have struggled with this season despite their impressive ability to create them.

"We can't create so many opportunities if we don't have an idea of the game model of how we want to play and the ideas that we have been putting into place.

"It's true that there are a lot of options that we are looking at to try and solve that issue. [We will] probably bring someone, it's one of the options that might bring a solution to our issue," Nabi added.

Nabi's frustration is understandable. The club has been excellent in generating opportunities but has been let down by finishing.

With the January transfer window approaching, Nabi is expected to be active in the market, searching for a player who can provide the clinical edge that Chiefs desperately need. A prolific forward would be the missing piece in Chiefs' attacking puzzle, allowing them to capitalize on the chances they create and convert more of their possession into goals.
