There comes a time in a football player’s career where they go through a dry patch, and for various reasons can go off the boil. In a bid to revive their careers, they often seek a move away from their club and in doing so, they get back to their best in new surroundings.
Sometimes it’s the other way around, with some players wanting to revive their careers by going back to where it all started for them.
Here are a few names of players who should be re-signed by their former clubs.
Morgan Gould – To SuperSport United or Bidvest Wits
At Kaizer Chiefs, Gould is a star man playing in the shadows of an in-form Tefu Mashamaite and Eric Mathoho. Perhaps a move back to either Matsatsantsa or Wits could be his last chance at once again being a regular at the age of 31.
Cole Alexander –To Ajax Cape Town
Not many would have anticipated a Capetonian lad trading the easy lifestyle of the Mother City for the dry lands of Polokwane. The move from the Urban Warriors bared many fruits for Alexander, as he has been hitting all the right notes at Rise and Shine this season. One could question how long he would stay at Polokwane City before he leaves for a club with more ambition, even if it means returning home to Cape Town.
Lehlohonolo Majoro – To Kaizer Chiefs
This may raise a few eyebrows to many of the die-hard Amakhosi fans, but looking at the situation, a player like Major could well be what Chiefs need to complete the puzzle. Yes, the Glamour Boys don’t have an in-form striker firing on all cylinders this season, perhaps a surprise move back to Naturena could benefit the club as a whole.
Thandani Ntshumayelo – To SuperSport United
Competing with both Oupa Manyisa and Issa Sarr in midfield for Orlando Pirates, Bibo’s inability to cement his name in the starting XI for the Sea Robbers may put him in a frame of mind of wanting to play regular football. It could be down to the factor of Bibo still adjusting to the pressure at a big club like Pirates, and a move back to SuperSport, where the pressure could be seemingly less, may unlock his full potential on the field.
