Players Abroad Who Should Return To Mzansi

Many South Africans who plied their trade abroad came back to South Africa to finish off their careers, while some return home after failing to make it in Europe. Today, I look at five players who should probably return home.

Daylon Claasen (1860 Munich, Germany):
The Cape Town midfielder has been moving around between clubs for a number of seasons and is currently plying his trade in the second division in Germany. Currently, he has made just five starts and nine sub appearances for his team. With the team sitting in 15th place in the 18-team league, Claasen’s side is fighting off relegation. After struggling to adapt to the European winter and cultures, perhaps a return home will be better for him...

Bongani Khumalo (Tottenham Hotspur, England):
The former Bafana Bafana captain arrived in England with glory expected to be cast upon him, however, he failed to live up to the hype. With injury and certain elements keeping him out of the team, Khumalo was sent on loan around Europe, but he still struggled to cement his place. While Spurs may be seventh in the English Premier League right now, Khumalo is not set to feature this season. He might as well come back home.

Davide Somma (Unattached):
The former Bafana Bafana player is currently in search of a new club, as he has been without a team for some time now. Somma, who has never really played in South Africa, should perhaps try his luck in Mzansi.

Siyanda Xulu (FC Rostov, Russia):
While his team may be on a winter break until March, Xulu has only managed five appearances in total this season. To make matters worse, his club are sitting at the bottom of the table and he could be relegated to the second division in Russia. Perhaps, Xulu should come back to South Africa.

Steven Pienaar (Everton, England):
While this may be a controversial statement, Pienaar has sadly not featured regularly for Everton this season due to injury. He may, however, be tempted to follow in the footsteps of Benni McCarthy and return to Mzansi to end off his career. It certainly would be great to see someone like Pienaar back in the PSL.

Which players do you think should return to the club?
