Insiders: Nabi Unhappy With Chiefs Schedule?

Since the start of the season, the Betway Premiership has already had two FIFA international "breaks", and the recent one comes soon after Kaizer Chiefs' 4-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Siya sources close to Amakhosi have indicated it is believed that coach Nasreddine Nabi is not pleased with the scheduling of fixtures, not only for his team but for the rest of the league too.

The sources at the club added that the Tunisian-born mentor would have preferred to continue playing, especially this week when it's not a FIFA break yet, and to only rest when there is a cup fixture.

"The coach felt that after losing such a game (against Sundowns) then the team should have continued to play. There are no leagues over the weekend so he was thinking there should have been a midweek game (for Chiefs too) looking at how long it will take before the league commences," said the Siya source.

"He is also worried that this is not a long time since September when almost the same thing happened after losing to Sundowns (in the PSL), they then went into a FIFA break too. Chiefs went on to win the CUFA Cup (at the time)," said the source, referring to Chiefs' win in that week against Marumo Gallants.

"He would have liked the league to at least have midweek games for the teams to be active because after losing you need to immediately play and bounce back. So this long break disturbs the team even more," the source concluded.

Notably Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns played in midweek, but not Chiefs.

A second insider stated that the coach lamented that they had a longer pre-season than many other teams due to not playing in the MTN8.

"You see the team did not compete in the MTN8 and that kept them inactive for longer and now with these starts and stops, he believes it's killing the momentum. He would have liked to keep on playing, but unfortunately the team is out of the Carling Knockout and they have very few players in the national team to keep them active," said the second insider.

"This break also means it will take longer before Inacio Miguel returns because the first game after the break is only on the 27th of November and the coach is not happy with that," the insider added.

As Chiefs navigate the disruptions caused by the FIFA breaks, Amakhosi's concerns highlight the challenges of maintaining momentum in the league. SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt and TS Galaxy mentor Sead Ramovic have also questioned the scheduling or fixtures set by the PSL this season.
