Good morning Khosi fans. Despite league action returning this evening, it hasn’t been the most pleasant of days for Chiefs after George Lebese had to hand himself over to the police.
Soccer Laduma broke the news that Milkshake, as he is affectionately known, would have to face the police regarding allegations of him physically hitting his girlfriend and causing damage to property.
As a result of this incident, which is said to have occurred this past weekend, Lebese was dropped from the match day squad set to take on Bloemfontein Celtic this evening.
This is probably the first of a long line of blows that could be handed to Lebese, as he may face court hearings and be slapped with quite the fine if these allegations turn out to be true.
Not only that, how will this affect Lebese in the long run?
The 26-year-old has been in the best form of his career this season, scoring beautiful goals and helping Chiefs go on their unbeaten run - but after all this stuff now, surely some emotional damage will hit the creative winger?
If his form and game time takes a turn for the worst, will Stuart Baxter and Bobby Motaung revise taking up the two-year option on Lebese’s contract?
The Mamelodi-born star’s contract is set to expire at the end of this current campaign. An extension of two more seasons was expected to be handed to Lebese, but who knows how this incident will affect the club’s decision to keep him on the books.
This is really sad, as Lebese was tipped to be the next Chiefs legend if he opts to remain at the club for his whole career. If true, do you think a club like Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain or Barcelona stand for this behaviour?
How do you think this whole scenario will impact Lebese and his career at Chiefs?
