Eden Hazard is one of the English Premier League’s rising stars at the moment, and if the league is to lose him to either FC Barcelona or Real Madrid, it would be a crying shame.
Real Madrid’s Castilla coach, Zinedine Zidane, recently spoke out about his admiration for Hazard, prompting speculation that the Spanish giants may be pursuing his services - which I hope the player doesn’t feel flattered by.
Firstly, why is that when a player outshines everyone else in England, he leaves for the Spanish giants? Hazard could well follow the likes of Luis Suarez and Gareth Bale, but here are my reasons why he should consider staying at Chelsea:
Although the Belgian is a class ahead of anybody else in England at the moment, he’s yet to be considered up with there with the two best players in the world – Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, so ultimately he would be making a big-money move, only to play in the two stars’ shadow.
Think about it… if Hazard is to make a move to one of Spain’s giant clubs, the chances of him being the same player aren’t high - as we all know that the players at those clubs only play for their superstars - or at least that’s what it seems like.
Take Bale for example: the Welshman was remarkable in his first campaign at Los Blancos, scoring 22 goals in his debut season – an incredible return for an English-speaking footballer playing with a bunch of Spanish and Portuguese speaking teammates.
Now, fast forward a season, and Bale has been made the team’s scapegoat, being criticised for not passing to Ronaldo more often! Making my point fairly clear.
At the moment, Hazard is getting the recognition that he rightfully deserves at the Blues, and who knows, maybe in one or two years, he may even be one of the contenders for the Ballon d’Or award – an accolade that has been shared between Ronaldo and Messi for the last seven years.
This season, Hazard has been nominated alongside Diego Costa, Harry Kane, Alexis Sanchez and David de Gea for the PFA Player of the Year Award, which I believe he deserves without doubt.
Do you believe that Hazard should stay with Chelsea, or should he make a move to either Real Madrid or Barcelona?
