Mali star Yves Bissouma has apologised after allegedly filming himself inhaling nitrous oxide, which is considered a class C drug also known as laughing gas.
The video is believed to have been posted to the 27-year-old's Snapchat account following Tottenham Hotspur's pre-season friendly defeat to Bayern Munich on Saturday.
"I want to apologise for these videos. This was a severe lack of judgement," he said in a statement, according to The Guardian.
"I understand how serious this is and the health risks involved, and I also take my responsibility as a footballer and role model very seriously."
It is claimed the midfielder could face a police probe after laughing gas was made a class C drug in November last year, as part of the English government's anti-social behaviour action plan.
A person intentionally aiming to wrongfully inhale nitrous oxide, without needing to cater for pain relief, is committing an offence under England's new laws.
