Many believe manager Arsene Wenger's time has come to an end at Arsenal, and with the club's French connection in mind, we look at five Frenchmen the board could possibly look at to replace him!
The Arsenal legend has been hotly tipped to one day take over at the club, and why not now? Henry has been building experience as assistant manager of Belgium, and we have often seen managers shine most when thrown in the deep end. Henry is a fan favourite at the club and would surely be given time to employ his own ideas with the team.
Another former player, Pires is also considered a legend at the club and has also been gaining experience. The former French international has been attending training sessions with the Gunners for months now, and might not be a bad option to replace the man he used to play under.
Despite the relationship Vieira built with Manchester City towards the latter stages of his career, and the one his current club New York City has with the Citizens, the Frenchman would be accepted with arms wide open at Arsenal. Vieira could restore a fear factor at the London club, and perhaps get them back to their tough-tackling best.
The former Paris Saint-Germain manager has been without a job since leaving the French giants at the beginning of the season. Blanc had an extremely successful career as a player, and has received heaps of praise for what he’s achieved in his fairly young managerial career so far.
The Southampton manager has impressed in the Premier League this season, after taking over when the club lost both Sadio Mane and Graziano Pelle. Puel began his managerial career in 1999 at Monaco, three years after Wenger left the French side to become manager of Arsenal, and has shown to have a cool head, which is exactly what will be needed if Wenger does leave the Emirates this season.
Who do you think should replace Wenger at Arsenal if he leaves?
