Mamelodi Sundown midfield kingpin Teko Modise recently said that the club will continue to play beautiful football and entertain the Masandawana faithful.
In all honesty, we have really been playing some of the best football in the country and it appears that we are clicking into the right gears at a crucial stage of the season.
Let’s not forget that we can win ugly too… taking into consideration the gritty 1-0 away win against AmaZulu last week in the Absa Premiership. This shows our ability to adapt as a team - with the main objective being the three points at the end of the day.
What has definitely contributed to our good form in the second half of the season is the attacking combinations working ever so well. At the beginning of the season coach Pitso Mosimane constantly spoke about the need to get formations and combinations right, and now that we are playing good football, we can see why that was so important to him.
With Modise urging his teammates to continue in beautiful fashion, he has no doubt been the driving force in that regard. For the last couple of seasons, the Navigator has been in top form and he looks a player who is getting better with age.
Not only has Modise been in fine form, but the likes of Bongani Zungu and Cuthbert Malajila have also come into their own at the club. Zungu surprised many last year by proving that he is Downs quality in his first season at the club. Also, Malajila’s goal scoring return this season has seen him become a threat to many others challenging for the Lesley Manyathela award.
For Mosimane, winning is everything, but as a bonus the fans are being treated to some fine showings as well. Are you happy with our team’s recent form?
