At Last: Pitso Delighted With First Win

After obtaining his first win in four matches, Esteghlal coach Pitso Mosimane expressed his delight with his first three points in the Iranian Pro League.

It hasn't been the easiest of starts for Mosimane in his new role.

The 60-year-old started off his tenure with three consecutive defeats, including one in the Asian Champions League against Al Hilal; however, Mosimane's side managed to pick up their first win on Saturday against Mes Rafsanjan.

Making the win all the more sweeter was the fact that Mosimane's side had been hit by a number of injuries to key players, meaning that he had to make do with a second-string squad, many of which came from Esteghlal's youth team.

"What can I say? Esteghlal won a match," Mosimane told journalists after the game.

"It's unbelievable. We won the match when we had the thinnest squad of all times I've been here. We won a match with the weakest team on the pitch. I asked myself how many more players are we going to lose? But God is there for us. We didn't play very well, but we won the match.

"We defended for our lives and that's what we needed - a win. Congratulations to the boys, we had to go to the youth team to bring young players to play, but it's okay because we won the match and that's what matters most," he added.
