There has been talk that Bobby Motaung and Itumeleng Khune’s relationship had hit a bump in the road when reports emerged that Motaung had blocked the shot-stopper from running onto the field to celebrate with the players.
Khune wasn’t seen celebrating on the field at the FNB Stadium last week Wednesday when Chiefs secured the PSL title with three games to go, and several media outlets claimed it was due to Motaung denying him access.
The report suggested that bodyguards were placed on Khune in case he wanted to go onto the field of play and block him if he tried. The reason behind this is said to be because of Khune having not yet penned in a new deal with Chiefs and his failure to commit with the club made him undeserving of celebrating.
Since then, however, Motaung and Khune both took to Chiefs’ official website to deny such claims and the two were seen standing on the field alongside each other yesterday evening at the Lucas Moripe.
As seen below, the two looked pretty happy with each other and all speculation over a rift has since calmed down.
Do you think this was all for show or did was there never a problem to begin with?
