Orlando Pirates are believed to have shown interest in a Zimbabwean striker, just four games into the new season, the Siya crew has been informed.

The player in question is Marumo Gallants' striker, Daniel Msendami who had joined the PSL club from Botswana side Jwaneng Galaxy only recently.

Siya sources close to both clubs have indicated that the Houghton-based club is believed to be keen on the speedy striker.

The sources added that Pirates' scouts have been monitoring Msendami's performances for some time and believe he could add value to the team.

"What we are not sure of is whether it's for January or for the end of the season but what I can tell you is that the technical team as well as the scouts are believed to be happy with the player," said the Siya source.

"The good thing is he is still young and can join the club at any time if they still need him. But for now it has just been inquiries about the player," the source added.

A second insider stated that Pirates have been monitoring Msendami even when he was still playing in Botswana last season.

"You remember that even before Msendami signed for Marumo Gallants there were three other clubs interested in him from the PSL and Gallants were not one of those three. But last season Pirates also inquired about him after their CAF Champions League encounter against Jwaneng Galaxy where he scored the goal which eliminated Pirates from the Champions League. So since then there has been interest from Pirates," the second source stated.

This publication contacted Gallants spokesperson Sello Nduna, who didn't have information about a concrete offer yet.

"That's news to me," Nduna told the Siya crew.

As the season progresses, it will be interesting to see if Pirates make a formal move for Msendami. His impressive performances have certainly caught the eye, and a potential transfer could be on the horizon, adding another dynamic player to the Pirates roster.

Soccer Laduma also contacted Pirates for comment but the club had not responded by the time this report was published.
