If you've been paying attention, you may have noticed that Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has been experiencing a dip in form lately. Even more curiously, it seems the quality of his performances directly correspond with the length of his hair... Have you seen the pictures?
Two seasons ago, Bellerin experienced his best form in the Premier League, earning him a spot in the Team of the Year selection. Fast-forward to last week at Liverpool and you would never have said that it was the same player. Not only did he appear to be merely a shadow of his 2015/16 self, but as one of the biggest villains in the Gunners' 4-0 defeat to the Reds, he also looked quite different. With long hair flapping over his ears, it was the Spaniard's mistake that led to Liverpool's third goal, and his all-round performance left a lot to be desired.
The May 2016 Hector had much shorter hair, sporting a fresh cut that was long on top and short at the sides. But like a reversed version of Samson, his abilities seem to lessen the longer his hair grew. This could be purely coincidental, but followers of sport are known to be superstitious and we may soon see a new hashtag emerging demanding Hector cut his hair, alongside the one that's already trending calling for the removal of his current manager, Arsene Wenger, from the club.
Check out Hector's hair progression since May 2016!
Do you think Bellerin should cut his hair short again?
