TBT: When Ajax Cape Town Stunned Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United

In July 2012, Manchester United made their way to the Mother City for a pre-season friendly against Ajax Cape Town, and the Urban Warriors gave Sir Alex Ferguson's men a run for their money. Do you remember the tie?

Being 19-time English league champions at the time, United faced one of the most talented group of Ajax Cape Town stars under the grey skies of the Mother City in 2012. In a packed Cape Town Stadium, fans flocked to see stars such as Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes and Javier Hernandez in action.

Testing themselves against some of Europe's best players, the likes of Khama Billiat, Granwald Scott and Thulani Hlatshwayo shone, while a budding star in the form of Keagan Dolly made his debut for the Ikamva-based team.

In scenes that wowed the fans at the stadium, Alcardo van Graan was brought on in the 85th minute and managed to score a minute later as Ajax were seemingly en route to a famous victory over the Red Devils, albeit in a pre-season match.

As the game drew to a close, though, United pushed for an equaliser, and managed just that when Bebe levelled the scoreline deep into stoppage time.
