The story

Bafana Bafana head coach, Broos, announced the final squad to face Nigeria and Zimbabwe in the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Two weeks ago, the mentor unveiled a provisional squad comprising 36 players, a selection that has since been reduced to 23 as South Africa aims to lead Group C by the conclusion of the international break.

With only the victors of the nine groups securing automatic qualification for the 2026 global tournament in North America, this marks a record number for CAF-affiliated nations in a World Cup.

The squad is headlined by Burnley striker Lyle Foster, who was excused from national duty at this year's AFCON due to mental health issues; FCSB defender, Siyabonga Ngezana also earns a well-deserved call-up after a stellar debut campaign in Europe; and Relebohile Mofokeng, Orlando Pirates' wonderkid.
