In a continuation of yesterday's feature of Premier Soccer League players who have had run-ins with the law, the Fan Park crew will now take a look at other local football stars who found themselves in trouble with authorities, this following yesterday's George Lebese incident.
Masibusane Zongo - Alleged Rape
In 2013, when on the books of Chippa United, the talented winger was taken in for questioning by members of the South African Police Service for an alleged rape charge. According to media reports, a warrant of arrest had been issued for him after he failed on two occasions to appear in court for a rape charge, after a girl claimed that she had been allegedly raped by the player. Zongo revealed to Soccer Laduma that he was not arrested but was only questioned by authorities. He said, "I wasn't arrested. I was there at Chippa's offices and the police just came and asked me some questions, and I told them there's nothing like that because vele (indeed) there's nothing like that."
Steven Pienaar – Drunk Driving
In 2010, the Everton attacker was arrested early hours of a Sunday morning after celebrating a 3-1 win over Manchester United, and was charged with drunk driving.
Brilliant Khuzwayo – Stolen Car In His Complex
In 2013, Khuzwayo was taken in for questioning for allegedly being involved in a car hijacking, this after a stolen car was found in his allotted parking space in the building complex that he had been living in. It was later confirmed that he was no way involved in any wrongdoing,.
Doctor Khumalo - Alleged Assault
Earlier this month, a report in Sunday World stated that Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo had allegedly assaulted a Johannesburg court official, who was serving him his divorce summons. The publication quotes Khumalo as saying that the official had "opened a case of assault against" him. However, 16v spoke to the police, who discussed the matter with the official, and he later called to tell Khumalo that "he was no longer willing to proceed with the case and withdrew it".
