Gerard Pique has been under a lot of scrutiny in Spain recently, and now adding to his woes are reports are claiming that he and long-time partner Shakira have split up. However, it seems the Spaniard has quickly rubbished those rumours. Did you see his latest social media post?
It looks like the Spanish press is coming out guns blazing, and Catalan-born Pique is their No. 1 target. As if it is not enough that Spanish fans appear to have turned on the defender by hurling abuse at him during World Cup qualifiers and national team training, now it looks like the media are after the Barcelona native as well.
Reports came out claiming that Pique had separated from his girlfriend of seven years Shakira, with whom he also has two kids.

However, the defender was quick to squash the rumours and show there is no trouble in paradise by retweeting a video of his wife singing, captioning it with heart and kissing emojis.

With the 30-year-old publicly supporting a referendum that seeks to make Catalonia an independent state from Spain, Spanish supporters and press have been out for blood when it comes to the former Manchester United centre back.
