There was a sense of jubilation as the SA Football Association National Women's League kicked off this weekend at the Nike Stadium in Soweto.
The football wasn't the only thing that got the fans talking though, there was a bizarre Joshua Doore haircut sported by one of the ladies that sent shockwaves through Twitter.
Her side, Richmond Ladies, was on the receiving end of a 7-0 thumping courtesy of Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, but Noxolo Gcina's haircut was the main talking point.
Gcina sported an 'mpandlane' haircut reminiscent of famous furniture shop figure Joshua Doore.
Her 'hairstyle of the year' was captured by Twitter parody account, @AdvBarryRoux.
Fans wasted no time in flooding Twitter with the most hilarious memes, some even stating that she received a yellow card because of her bizarre haircut!
