The glitz and the glamour of being a professional footballer sometimes becomes difficult to maintain as one progresses and starts getting more publicity and attention, and of course... a bigger pay check!
Most of the football superstars love a bottle to celebrate a big victory, and sometimes what should have been one bottle, may become just a little too much.
Here are the most memorable drinking incidents from our global footballing icons:
Andrea Pirlo
It is difficult to imagine such a class act as the legendary Andrea Pirlo looking practically like a homeless man and throwing beer bottles around. Well, those were the scenes during a bus parade after Juventus won yet another Scudetto title last year. Later on, in the Scudetto bus parade, Pirlo was seen slumped in the front seat looking rather worse for wear. Impressive stuff from the Italian playmaker!
Frank Lampard
Surely this is one of Frank Lampard's most embarrassing moments. The English midfielder was seen mocking and swearing at stranded US tourists at the Heathrow International Airport after flights were grounded due to the 9/11 attacks by terrorists on the World Trade Center back in September 2001. The manager of the hotel that the players were staying in during this period described their behaviour as disgusting, as they didn't seem to care about the tragic incident.
Nicklas Bendtner
The former Arsenal player had a time to forget at the Emirates, as he didn't quite live up to the potential that many fans out there were raving about. But one thing that the Danish international did do, was drop his pants and rub himself against a taxi after Arsenal's exit to Bayern Munich in the 2014 Champions League final.
Bastian Schweinsteiger
We all know someone who suddenly becomes a singing sensation when they come into contact with alcohol. Well, "Schweini" is one of those! The Bayern Munich hard man found himself abusing domestic opponents Borussia Dortmund in one of his drunken musical hits. The video went viral, causing a massive stir amongst the rival supporters, prompting the player to later apologise for his actions.
Mario Balotelli
The king of mischief! It is only fitting that Super Mario finds himself at the top of this order - the seat he loves occupying! The Italian talisman got so drunk that he drove into a women's prison just to check out how an all-female detention centre works!
