Cape Town Spurs veteran Michael Morton is getting deep into his content creator bag with his most recent videos seeing him give attention SA football's most iconic nicknames.

Nicknames from players who played for both Soweto Giants were the focus of Morton's content, giving his followers and local football culture history lesson.

Morton spotlights classic nicknames

Nicknames have always played a big role in South African football culture, a strong tradition that sees fans bestow a nickname on a high profile player.

Usually, a nickname is meant to provide an exact description of that particular player's style of play. Like the legendary Amakhosi midfielder Doctor Khumalo, who was given the "16v" nickname due to his "turbocharged" engine on the pitch, like the VW Golf 16v, which was hot in that era.

Morton, who possesses a wealth of experience in SA football having played for the Buccaneers, AmaZulu, Moroka Swallows, SuperSport United and now the Urban Warriors, shared classic nicknames from Chiefs and Pirates legends.

Nicknames like "Chincha Guluva" for Dr Kaizer Motaung and Jabu "Shuffle the Pack" Pule, Marks "Go Man Go" Maponyane, Helman "Midnight Express" Mkalelele, and Lesley "Slow Poison" Manythela, were just some of the iconic names that were mentioned by Morton.
