Yesterday marked the 15th year since the passing of iconic Orlando Pirates striker Lesley Manyathela, and former teammate Jimmy Tau shared his last heartfelt moment with the forward. Did you see it?
Manyathela, who was affectionately known as "Slow Poison" in his playing days, is considered a legend in local football circles despite a promising career being cut short by a tragic car accident.
The lanky forward built a reputation for being one of the country's most lethal strikers, with his technique and goalscoring prowess compensating for a lack of pace, thus him being dubbed "Slow Poison".
Tau, who was one of Manyathela's teammates during his time at Pirates, took to Instagram recently to share what was his last encounter with the forward.
He captioned the post by saying: "On this day I remember the fallen soldier. We played against Cosmos at Rand Stadium. He insisted he wants to go visit his mom for Women's Day. We shared our goodbyes, wished him a safe trip. Least we knew that was our final parting words. We received a call in the wee hours informing us of the tragic news of Lesley 'Slow Poison' Manyathela's accident. We miss you and may your soul rest in peace."
