It seems as if the MLS has become the new retirement home for footballers these days, but this isn't something new. Players have been heading out to the MLS for years now and recent migration seems that the league is getting a little stronger and wealthier.
We take a look at some Legends that move to the USA:
Pele
Pele played for the New York Cosmos back in 1975 and at that time of his career he was retired from international football. He scored 31 goals in 56 appearances for the club and won two trophies with them.
Franz Beckenbauer
The Kaiser made had two stints at the New York Cosmos, back in 1977 and the other in 1983. He made 132 appearances for the club and managed to score 21 goals playing at centre back.
Bobby Moore
The legendary English defender always had two spells in the MLS, but both were for different clubs. Moore represented the San Antonio Thunder and Seattle Sounders and racked up 31 appearances in total in the USA.
Johan Cruyff
The outspoken Dutchmen moved to the USA in 1979 and stayed their till 1981. Cruyff played for two teams in the MLS one being the Los Angeles Aztecs and the other Washington Diplomats. Cryuff scored 26 goals in 56 appearances in the MLS.
Kazier Motaung
The Chiefs founder may have played in the NASL, but he is certainly a noteworthy name that has to be included in this list. Having spent time at Atlanta Chiefs and Denver Dynamos, it was his first club in the States that inspired him to launch his own club Kaizer CHiefs.
