It's no secret that La Liga has the most money in the world, where the money comes from we are not quite sure! The Spanish league has seen some HUGE transfers and here are the five biggest in the league.
James Rodriguez Monaco to Real Madrid – R995 Million (70 Million Euro)
James Rodriguez is now officially fifth most expensive player in soccer history just behind Luis Suarez, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale (both Real Madrid). The 23-year-old has joined the reigning European Champions on a six-year deal for a fee of €70 ($107 million), after taking the World Cup by storm.
Zinedine Zidane - Juventus to Real Madrid – R1 Billion (75 Million Euro)
Retired French legend who played as an attacking midfielder for the French national team, Juventus and Real Madrid, he was renowned for his elegance, vision and technique. Football critics and fans will always remember his name as the legend of the game. His 2001 transfer from Juventus to Real Madrid set a world record fee of €75 million.
Cristiano Ronaldo – Manchester United to Real Madrid - R1.3 Billion (94 Million Euro)
Cristiano Ronaldo made history in 2009 when he became the most expensive player in football. The Portuguese star player signed a six-year contract with La Liga giant Real Madrid and today has a buy-out clause of nearly one billion euros. Ronaldo was originally handed the number nine jersey when he join Real Madrid, but in 2010 chose to play with the number seven, now he also known as CR7.
Luis Suarez – Liverpool to Barcelona - R1.3 Billion (94.7 Million Euro)
The Uruguayan Sensation, after his great performance in World cup 2014, Barcelona committed to buy him from Liverpool, although he was banned from playing football for four months. Suárez was transferred from Liverpool to Barcelona, who paid a huge money for the "Biting Superstar", which makes this transfer the second most expensive transfer in football history.
Gareth Bale – Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid - R1.4 Billion (100 Million Euro)
A Welsh footballer with tremendous speed, great crossing ability, a great left foot and exceptional physical qualities, Bale was transferred to Real Madrid for an undisclosed transfer fee. But the Spanish press and Real Madrid TV reported €91 million, while the English press reported a world record transfer fee of €100 million, which would be above Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer record fee of €94 million.
