With the official announcement being made that Bastian Schweinsteiger has joined Manchester United, I can't help but mention that not many Germans have done well in England…
Schweinsteiger is a great player, but let's hope that he doesn't end up having the same impact as these Premier League flops did!
Jerome Boateng
We almost forget that Bayern Munich's central defender, Jerome Boateng, was once a Manchester City, and it's probably because he never left a great mark. The German spent just one season in England, where he looked a little off the pace and uncomfortable.
Marko Marin
The 26-year-old German joined Chelsea in 2012, but has only featured 16 times for the Blues' first-team. Marin has had loan spells with Sevilla, Fiorentina and Anderlecht, and unbelievably – he is still contracted to Jose Mourinho's men.
Lewis Holtby
Holtby was one of Germany's most promising talents when he joined Tottenham Hotspur in 2013, and a season later, he went to Fulham on-loan, where he played more but still failed to really impress.
Lukas Podolski
The player joined Arsenal in 2012, and although he managed to score some great goals, Podolski hardly took the Premier League by storm.
Michael Tarnat
The left-back spent six years at Bayern before moving to Manchester City in 2004, where he only played one season before heading back Germany to play for Hannover. Tarnat was a star with the Bavarians, but failed to make a name for himself in England.
Do you think that Bastian Schweinsteiger will be successful in the English Premier League?
