The point of making an April Fool's joke is that it is meant to be funny and get the audience believing it is true, but that never worked out for Kaizer Chiefs' media team today.
In light of this festive day, the men and women in charge of the Glamour Boys' Twitter handle opted to announce the signing of one of the world's best players, Lionel Messi.
The problem with this joke is that it is highly unlikely that we would ever be able to afford him, let alone sign him, and secondly, this was bad timing given the contract situation with a handful of players at the club.
Fans took to Twitter to respond to this attempt at an April Fool's joke, and some responses were not so pretty...
