Biggest Manchester United Flops

Biggest Manchester United Flops

Manchester United has been one of the biggest clubs in England for decades, but every now and then, they bring in a player that really just doesn't perform… Here are five of the biggest Manchester United flops.

Diego Forlan

The man that won the Golden Ball at the 2010 World Cup had a difficult start to his career in Europe when he joined Manchester United. In three seasons, he only made 63 league appearances for the Red Devils and scored a measly 10 goals.

Anderson

Anderson joined Manchester United from Porto in 2007 when he was considered to be one of the brightest talents in football, and the Red Devils paid £20 million for his services. Seven years, including a one-year loan spell at Fiorentina later, Anderson has still failed to launch and has only appeared as a substitute once this season.

Gabriel Obertan

Arriving from Bordeaux in 2009, Gabrielle Obertan joined Manchester United with a reputation as "the next big thing". But two seasons, 14 Premier League appearances and not a single goal in the Premier League later, Obertan departed for Newcastle United for the £3 million fee that United initially paid for him.

Bebe

Bebe arrived at Manchester United in 2010 from Portuguese club Vitoria for a fee of €9 million, and afterwards it was confirmed that Sir Alex Ferguson had not even watched him play. It was a costly mistake from Ferguson, and the Portuguese striker never even managed a single goal for the club during his four-year spell that included three different loan moves.

Kleberson

Kleberson arrived at Manchester United in the same summer as Cristiano Ronaldo. However, while the Portuguese player's stock simply rose at the club, his Brazilian counterpart's fell dramatically. Two seasons, 20 appearances and just two goals into his Premier League career, Kleberson was sold to Besiktas for €2.5 million.

These guys were all terrible. Some of them moved on to pursue more successful careers elsewhere, but most of them just fell out of the limelight.

Which flop do you think was the biggest?
