Pressure Increases As Chiefs Extend Winless Streak

Pressure Increases As Chiefs Extend Winless Streak

Kaizer Chiefs extended their winless run to four matches in the Betway Premiership after a 1-1 draw against TS Galaxy on Saturday evening.

Betway Premiership

Result: Kaizer Chiefs 1-1 TS Galaxy

Date: 05 April 2025

Venue: Peter Mokaba Stadium

Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi made three changes from the loss to Golden Arrows, as Bradley Cross was recalled to the left-back spot in place of Edmilson Dove, while Wandile Dube and Pule Mmodi were also recalled.

The hosts were on the front foot from the early stages of the encounter, with Duba and Sirino seeing a lot of the ball in the opening stages while Galaxy goalkeeper Tape was called to keep out Ngcobo's free-kick.

Chiefs should have been ahead in the 26th minute when Duba raced down the right flank before picking out Makabi Lilepo, who somehow failed to hit the target with the goal at his mercy in the six yard area.

Dženan Zajmovic was certainly touted as a player to look out for but he squandered a big chance to put Galaxy ahead ten minutes before the break when he volleyed over the crossbar from eight-yards out.

Galaxy were made to rue that miss two minutes later when a defensive error ended with Tape parrying the ball into the path of Duba, who fired home from close rang to take his tally to five league goals this campaign.

Nabi's charges carried that momentum into the second half and should have had a second five minutes in after another Galaxy error, but Gaston Sirino placed his effort wide with only Tape to beat in the box.

Galaxy, meanwhile, were a lot more dominant on the ball as the Chiefs players began to slow down, with Keagan Dolly and Puso Dithejane getting a few more touches but the opposition defence remained resolute.

There was a change in the Chiefs defence after 76 minutes when Inácio Miguel was stretchered off with a leg injury and replaced by Dove for the final stages.

Miguel's absence was felt immediately as Galaxy levelled matters from a corner situation when Mlungisi Mbunjana bundled the ball home after Bruce Bvuma head to keep out Dove's poor headed clearance from going into his own net.

Galaxy had a chance to snatch all three points in time added on when Dithejane was sent through goal, however the attacker sent his effort over the target with only Bvuma to beat as the two sides settled for a share of the spoils.

Here's how they lined up:
