Manqoba To Pirates? Options For Mngqithi

Manqoba To Pirates? Options For Mngqithi

Manqoba Mngqithi is in a good position to help Golden Arrows finish in the top eight, but the Siya crew understands that the project at the club may not be a long one, as the coach is weighing his options to take on a project that could see him returning to compete at a continental level.

After leaving Mamelodi Sundowns in December, Mngqithi went a couple of months as a free agent before Arrows brought him back on a contract until the end of the season.

Before signing for Arrows, the Siya crew has been informed that there were talks with Sekhukhune United, but a deal did not materialise.

The decision to sign a contract until the end of the season gave Mngqithi an opportunity to return to coaching before he can properly assess his options come the end of the campaign. And with doors opening at clubs such as SuperSport United, Cape Town City and Orlando Pirates, Mngqithi is expected to meet up with his representatives to see where he can go next season.

It's understood that there has been interest from both East and North Africa for the club, from clubs competing in CAF competitions, so Arrows may not be able to hold onto them, even if they have a contract on the table for him.

Indications are that the coach is determined to work for a club that has ambitions of qualifying for continental competitions and, having coached in the Champions League with Sundowns, he believes he has the experience to do well at that level.
