There is a fresh update regarding the trial of highly-rated Zambian striker Andrew Phiri at Orlando Pirates.

The 23-year-old recently underwent an assessment under the watchful eye of head coach Jose Riveiro and his technical team.

While the Buccaneers have remained silent on how the forward performed, his club, Maestro United Zambia (MUZA), has provided an update on his situation.

Phiri has returned to Zambia and has already resumed action with his club.

He featured in MUZA's recent fixture against ZESCO United, which ended in a dramatic 1-0 defeat after conceding a goal in stoppage time.

Despite his return, discussions regarding his trial at Pirates are still pending, as club officials have yet to engage with him directly.

Following his arrival, Phiri immediately rejoined his team in camp, located several hundred kilometres away from the club's base.

As a result, MUZA's management has not yet had the chance to speak with him about his experience in South Africa.

However, the club intends to initiate talks with Pirates to understand the next steps in the player's potential move.

For now, Phiri remains part of MUZA's setup while his future remains uncertain.

"He is back in the country. He arrived the other day and he even featured in yesterday's game. We were playing against ZESCO United yesterday, and he played in that game. We lost 1-0, having conceded a goal in the 97th minute," said MUZA CEO Joel Kabika, speaking exclusively to the Siya crew.

"I haven't spoken to the player yet, because I haven't met him. On his arrival, he went straight to join the team in camp in Ndola, which is about 300 km from where we are. So, we haven't yet met, and today that's when they are travelling," the official added.

"But we have to talk. We have to find out from Orlando what they are saying," concluded Kabika.
