Royal Team Fears 'Mass Exodus To Doom'

Royal Team Fears 'Mass Exodus To Doom'

"What I can tell you that the ones that have officially joined other clubs are about six. Sbangani Zulu, and Mfundo Thikazi who was also wanted by Chiefs, have joined Richards Bay. Sekhukhune United have signed defender Khulekani Zulu and then the other three players in Ayabulela Maxwele, Shadrack Kobedi and Sabelo Sithole have joined Golden Arrows. So you see, that it's almost the whole team. And you can find out that more will leave even before the new owner takes over. Things are really tough at Royal AM as we speak. There is a player exodus right now," the insider told the Siya crew.

A second insider painted an even grimmer picture, stating that even if the club is sold and the league grants them permission to play, assembling a competitive squad would be near "impossible".

"You know, hypothetically thinking, let's say the team is bought and the league gives them the go ahead to play the remaining games. Do you think they will have a squad to play and compete? No, I don't think so. Look at the players that have left and then so many unhappy ones as well. Even the technical team is apparently not happy to be coaching a team which may not play at all. Things are really not looking good at all. It's looks doom for the club as things stand," the second insider believes.

Royal AM last played on December 29 against TS Galaxy and currently sit at the bottom of the Betway Premiership standings, staring at the possibility of relegation as the season nears its conclusion. At the moment Royal have 11 games in hand on 15th placed SuperSport United and are 14 points behind them.

Soccer Laduma reached out for official comment from Royal AM on the issue, but no response was received at the time of publication.
