Gamondi Open To PSL Return

Gamondi Open To PSL Return

Experienced Argentine coach Miguel Gamondi is understood to be open to a return to South Africa following his recent departure from Libyan club Al Nasr.

The 58-year-old tactician's exit from Al Nasr came as a surprise, as he had only taken charge of the club in January.

Indications from sources in the know are that the coach could be considering a return to the South African football scene, where he previously enjoyed success.

His most notable achievement in Mzansi came during the 2006/07 season when he co-coached Mamelodi Sundowns alongside Neil Tovey, leading the Chloorkop giants to a league title.

That triumph marked the first silverware of the Patrice Motsepe era at the club, cementing Gamondi's place in local football history.

In addition to his time at Sundowns, Gamondi also had a coaching stint with the now-defunct Platinum Stars between 2007 and 2009.

His familiarity with the PSL and its competitive nature makes a potential return an intriguing prospect for both the coach and local clubs.

Recently, Gamondi showcased his tactical prowess while coaching Tanzanian side Young Africans.

In July, he guided the team to an emphatic 4-0 victory over Kaizer Chiefs in the Toyota Cup in the Free State.

Following that match, he advised Amakhosi to bolster their squad if they were to compete effectively in the Betway Premiership under Nasreddine Nabi.

With his wealth of experience and past success in Mzansi, Gamondi could be a valuable addition to the PSL should the right opportunity arise.

"The coach is open to a return to the PSL to help improve the league and the players with his experience. But it has to be the right project," said the source.
