Zamalek Takes 'Key Decision' For Stellenbosch Confed Cup Clash

Zamalek boss Jose Peseiro has reportedly decided that his side must travel to South Africa three days before their game against Stellenbosch FC.

With Zamalek set to take on Stellenbosch FC in the coming weeks, the Egyptians are now said to have made a key decision regarding their trip to South Africa.

Stellenbosch will be making their first-ever appearance in the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup next month.

Steve Barker's side will take on the tournament's defending champions, Zamalek, across two legs. They will host the Egyptian giants on 2 April before meeting them again in Egypt on 9 April.

With the fixture set to take place just a few weeks from now, Zamalek have begun preparing for the long journey to South Africa, with the club reportedly revealing their travel arrangements.

According to the Kora Plus website, new Zamalek manager José Peseiro has decided that the team will travel to Mzansi on 29 March, just three days before the match.

It is noted that this will allow the team to briefly acclimatise to the environment in preparation for the playing conditions in the country.

Zamalek advanced to this phase of the Confederation Cup after topping their group with 14 points from six matches.

Stellenbosch, meanwhile, qualified for a maiden quarter-final after finishing second in Group B behind RS Berkane with nine points from six games.

Notably, Stellies have won three and lost three games to make it to this stage.

The Western Cape club will also be hoping to tighten things up at the back, as they have conceded 10 goals so far—the most among all the teams who have reached the quarter-finals.
