PSL Club Sale Draws Interest From Abroad

PSL Club Sale Draws Interest From Abroad

With the sale of Royal AM looming, interest in the KwaZulu-Natal-based club has extended beyond South African borders, the Siya crew has learnt.

The Betway Premiership side, owned by Shauwn Mkhize, has been placed on auction due to financial struggles, including outstanding debts.

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) curator, Jaco Venter, recently issued a bidding notice, confirming that the club will be auctioned to recover a reported R40 million tax debt owed by Mkhize.

Furthermore, the club has been dealing with a FIFA-imposed transfer ban after failing to pay former player Samir Nurkovic approximately R15 million for unlawfully terminating his contract.

Bidding for the club is set to take place this Friday between 8 AM and 1 PM, with the winning bid expected to be announced on Monday.

Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, has confirmed that several high-profile bidders have expressed interest in acquiring the club.

Due to the club's troubles, the team has been inactive since their 3-1 defeat to TS Galaxy on December 29.

The PSL suspended the club's fixtures in January due to their financial troubles, leaving the team in limbo.

As the auction deadline nears, all eyes will be on who steps forward to rescue the troubled club and potentially steer it toward stability.

Meanwhile, the Siya crew has learnt that there has been interest from a Congolese businessman who has been closely monitoring Royal AM's situation.

"The gentleman is a businessman, and he is Congolese. He has been following the situation, and he has shown interest in buying the club," said the source.
