Billiat Makes Instant Impact At New Club

Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs star Khama Billiat bagged an assist this past weekend for his new club as he made his debut.

At the start of the year, the veteran attacker completed a free transfer from Yadah FC to Scottland FC in the Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League, and he has taken very little time to adapt to his new surroundings.

The 34-year-old only made his debut for his new side this weekend because he was recovering from an injury. The newly promoted side boasts a number of former South African top-flight stars among their ranks, with Kevin Moyo, Ronald Pfumbidzai, and Talbert Shumba all now playing alongside Billiat for Scottland.

They are, thus far, one of the only teams to have notched two victories to start the new season, and integral to their latest victory was the 2016 CAF Champions League champion, as he assisted the match's opening goal when they played Caps United.

The match would end 2-0 as Scottland FC opened a two-point lead at the top of the log standings. Billiat has hit the ground running at his new club, and it is expected that he will be called up for the latest Zimbabwean national team squad for their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Benin by Michael Nees.

The German tactician has revealed that the delay in announcing the squad has to do with the Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League having just started.
