The story
Former Bafana Bafana striker Benni McCarthy was officially introduced as Kenya's new head coach in a glamorous ceremony held by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) on Monday.
McCarthy signed a deal that expires in 2027 and will be accompanied by Vasili Manousakis (assistant coach), Moneeb Josephs (goalkeeping coach), and Pilela Maposa (performance analyst),
He received a warm welcome from FKF president Hussein Mohammed at the Serena Hotel in Nairobi, where he walked in to the beat of Tkzee's classic Kwaito hit, "Shibobo," which Benni features in.
The iconic track was blasted in the background with a montage highlighting Benni's career as both a player and a coach was played on a big screen.
South Africa's all-time leading scorer was also given a taste of Kenyan culture after being handed a spear and shield carried by the Maasai people.
