NEW: Mourinho Sues Rival Club After Racism Allegations

Fenerbahce coach Jose Mourinho is suing Galatasaray after being accused of making racist remarks.

Galatasaray and Fenerbahce played to a goalless in the Turkish Super Lig on Monday night.

After the encounter, the Portuguese tactician claimed that the Galatasaray personnel were  "jumping like monkeys", for which he received a four-game ban.

Fenerbahce have now confirmed that a lawsuit has been filed against their Super Lig rivals.

"We would like to announce to the public that a lawsuit for non-pecuniary damages of 1 million 907 thousand Turkish Liras (£41,500) has been filed against Galatasaray Sports Club by Jose Mourinho through Fenerbahçe Sports Club lawyers due to the attack on the personal rights of our Technical Director Jose Mourinho."

The club already put out a statement earlier in the week slamming Galatasaray's accusations towards Mourinho.

"We hereby formally declare our intention to initiate criminal proceedings concerning the racist statements made by Jose Mourinho, and shall accordingly submit official complaints to UEFA and FIFA.

"Furthermore, we shall diligently observe the stance adopted by Fenerbahce - an institution professing to uphold 'exemplary moral values' - in response to the reprehensible conduct exhibited by their manager."
