Ramoreboli's Botswana 'Surprise' African Giants With Latest Call

Ramoreboli's Botswana 'Surprise' African Giants With Latest Call

The Algerian Football Federation are reportedly unhappy with the kickoff time for the next FIFA World Cup qualifier against Botswana.

Morena Ramoreboli's Botswana have reportedly given an African giant a surprise with their latest decision regarding their next FIFA World Cup qualifier.

With Africa Cup of Nations qualification done and dusted, attention for nations on the continent now turns to successfully making it to the FIFA World Cup next year. For the first time ever, nations from the CAF region will have as many as nine teams guaranteed to be competing at the global spectacle.

Most of the groups within CAF qualification are still tightly contested affairs, and Group G is no different. This group includes the Zebras of Botswana, Somalia, Uganda, Mozambique, Guinea, and Algeria.

In the case of the southern African nation, they officially appointed the 44-year-old at the start of the year, and his first match as the permanent boss will be against the Desert Foxes in Francistown.

According to WinWin, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) thought the encounter would be played in the evening, but the Botswana Football Association (BFA) have confirmed earlier this week that the match will be played at 15:00 local time.

The same report claims that this decision to play in the afternoon has not gone down well with the Algerians because of the extreme heat they will be playing in, coupled with the fact that the encounter will be taking place in a month when most of their players will be taking part in Ramadan, which involves the practice of fasting.

A win for Ramoreboli's charges against Algeria would go a long way in their aspirations of making it to their first-ever World Cup, as they are only trailing the two-time African champions by three points.
