Mbatha’s Crucial Pirates Update

Mbatha’s Crucial Pirates Update

Orlando Pirates could receive a significant boost as midfielder Thalente Mbatha is expected to return for their upcoming encounter against Golden Arrows.

The 24-year-old was notably absent in the Buccaneers' recent matches, missing their 3-1 victory over Baroka FC in the Nedbank Cup as well as the league clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mbatha's last appearance came two weeks ago against Sekhukhune United, where he sustained a foot injury.

His absence had sparked speculation on social media, with some reports suggesting there could be other reasons behind his omission.

However, sources within the club have dismissed such claims, reaffirming that the player's unavailability was solely due to his injury.

"He (Mbatha) is available, and he has been training with the rest of the team. He has recovered and is available for selection," a source confirmed.

"Whatever else you read on social media about the player, which has nothing to do with his injury, is untrue. He missed those games (against Sundowns and Baroka) because he was injured, and that's all," concluded the source.

The news on Mbatha's possible return comes at a crucial time for head coach Jose Riveiro, who is looking to keep Pirates in contention for the league title against an in-form Sundowns side.

His availability could be particularly important given that Kabelo Dlamini is suspended for the clash, necessitating changes in the team's central midfield set-up.

With Pirates set to face Abafana Bes'thende in Hammarsdale tomorrow, Mbatha's return could provide much-needed stability and creativity in the midfield.

As the Buccaneers aim to secure maximum points, his inclusion in the squad could play a pivotal role in their pursuit of more silverware this season.
