Real Madrid are in danger of losing top spot in LALIGA after being held to a 1-1 draw by Osasuna on Saturday evening.

Result: Osasuna 1-1 Real Madrid

Date: 15 February 2025

Venue: Estadio El Sadar

Fran Garcia, Luka Modric and Brahim Diaz came in as Carlo Ancelotti's three changes after the midweek win over Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League.

Mbappe was recently named LALIGA Player of the Month for January after his impressive form Los Blancos.

The Frenchman showed why he was worthy of the award by opening the scoring in the 15th minute by turning home Federico Valverde's cut-back for his 17th league goal of the season.

The hosts struggled to carve out any meaningful openings in the first period and their task was made a little bit easer when Jude Bellingham was shown a straight red card for something he said to the referee.

Despite being a man down in the first half, Madrid were able to thwart the Osasuna attack as goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois barely had a save to make in the opening 45 minutes.

However, that all change in the second half when Osasuna got the equaliser in the 58th minute when Ante Budimir converted a penalty after he was brought down by Eduardo Camavinga in the box following a VAR review.

Ancelotti responded with his first change on 69 minutes by throwing on Rodrygo for Diaz to freshen up the attack for the final 20 minutes.

With time running out, Mbappe nearly snatched the winning goal on 90 minutes after lung-busting run but the Frenchman was denied by a fine save by Osasuna goalkeeper Sergio Herrera as the encounter ended all square.
