The story
Since joining Sundowns in 2022, Lucas Ribeiro Costa has been a standout performer in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), dazzling fans with his flair, style, and unmatched close control, carrying the essence of Joga Bonito.
Costa, who has just received the Betway Prem's Goal of the Month award for January, has been imperious form this season with healthy stats of 10 goals and nine assists so far.
The 26-year-old was at his brilliant best in Sundowns' dominant 3-0 win over Tshwane derby rivals SuperSport United in the Betway Premiership at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Costa played a role in two of Masandawana's three goals on the night, with Marcelo Allende latching onto a rebound from his powerful shot for their opener and his brilliant low cross assist from the right wing for Tashreeq Matthews' goal.
One of his standout moments from the game came on the stroke of half-time when he gave Matsatsantsa's Ime Okon and Gape Moralo the runaround with his remarkable dribbling.
