The story

Kaizer Chiefs took to social media to showcase South African sprinter, Akani Simbine's visit to the club's headquarters in Naturena.

The long-time Chiefs fan, who was instrumental in South Africa claiming the 4x100 relay silver medal last year's Paris Olympic Games, passed on some words of motivation to the Chiefs players.

"Coming here and getting to the point where I am one of the fastest men in the world, is a story of consistency, drive, and growth. I have missed out on successes by miniscule things but we go back and look at how we can get better even by 0.1 or 0.2 percent," said Simbine, as quoted on the Chiefs website.

"As a professional sportsman I am inspired by the Chiefs team and I hope that I can inspire them with my story to keep on pushing and keep on making your dreams become a reality. We need to the best we can," added the speedster in his visit last Thursday.

Simbine also told the players of his unwavering support of the club, revealing that he has driven past the Kaizer Chiefs Village many times.

"I am pleased to have been given the opportunity to visit Chiefs. I have been a Chiefs fan since I was a little kid and Amakhosi have been in my blood for as long as I can remember," said Simbine in Amakhosi's press release.

Akani Simbine, who once aspired to be a professional footballer before focusing on athletics, has great admiration for Kaizer Chiefs icons such as, Doctor Khumalo, Siyabonga Nomvethe, and the late Emmanuel "Scara" Ngobese.

The Olympic silver medalist will be at the FNB Stadium this Saturday to cheer on the Glamour Boys in the eagerly awaited Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates.
