Pirates & Sundowns Monitor Left Back?

News from Sekhukhune United indicates that two top PSL clubs are keeping a close watch on their promising young left-back, Vuyo Letlapa.

The intention is to sign Letlapa during the next transfer window at the end of the season.

Insiders close to the player have indicated that both Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates are believed to have expressed interest and are actively monitoring Letlapa's performances.

The sources added that scouts and recruiters from both clubs are thought to be tracking the progress of the 21-year-old, who has been a standout regular for Babina Noko this season.

"It's not surprising that he had attracted interest from these two teams. He is hard working, dedicated and resilient in what he does. You know they signed him from Jomo Cosmos in the ABC Motsepe League and he has proven how good he is in a short space of time. No matter which team he ends up signing for, he will do a great job. He is a good player," the Siya source stated.

A second insider stated that both clubs see Letlapa as a potential alternative to Fawaaz Basadien if they cannot sign him.

"You know he is still young and he has a great future ahead of him as long as he can just remain as grounded as he is now. That's why it's believed that apparently they are looking at him as a replacement option for Fawaaz (Basadien) if they can't get him. Yes he may not have the experience right now but that comes with playing regularly at a top level and that's what these clubs are looking at," the second source stated.

Letlapa has played many games in the top flight during his debut season, earning him man-of-the-match accolades. He reportedly signed a three-year contract with Sekhukhune United in July, keeping him at Babina Noko until June 2027.

Soccer Laduma contacted Sekhukhune United for comment but received no response at the time of publication.
