Premier League

Report: Ipswich Town 0-6 Manchester City

Date: 19 January 2025

Venue: Portman Road

Ederson returned in goals for City while Ruben Dias, Ilkay Gundogan and Jeremy Doku were also recalled by Pep Guardiola after the draw with Brentford.

After a slow start, the Cityzens eventually broke the deadlock on 26 minutes as Phil Foden got on the end of Kevin de Bruyne's cross to slam home from close range.

The lead was doubled four minutes later as Foden turned provider to tee up Mateo Kovacic, who took one touch before rifling the ball into the bottom corner.

City showed no signs of slowing down and bagged a third goal five minutes before the break in similar fashion to the first, with Foden turning home a cross from De Bruyne.

It was more of the same in the second period, as City added a fourth goal four minutes after the interval with De Bruyne picking up another assist by teeing Doku to fire home from close range.

Doku turned provider in the 57th minute  after winning the ball high up before teeing up Erling Haaland, who made no mistake from close range to score his 17th league goal of the campaign.

Guardiola had withdrawn the likes of Foden, De Bruyne and Haaland but that did not stop City from scoring as substitute Jams McAtee added a sixth goal in the in the 69th minute with a lovely looping header.

Ipswich weren't able to find a consolation in the closing stages, with City also holding on to the clean sheet to move into fourth spot.
