With Soccer Laduma reporting that French club Montpellier SC are interested in Orlando Pirates defender Thabiso Sesane, the Siya crew finds out what his price tag could be in such a potential transfer.

Sources close to both the player and the club indicated that a valuation of R25 million considers Sesane's tenure in the PSL and his performances at the top level so far. An insider added that this price is applicable not just to Montpellier, but to any club interested in acquiring the Bucs youth development product.

"The club has their own philosophy and way of dealing with the selling of the players and their sale amount depends on several different factors like age and experience. So for Sesane they have calculated his value to be around R25 million. They are looking at his age, his experience and the league where he is wanted. All those things count hence the value of around R25m," the Siya source stated.

A second insider highlighted that additional clauses would be considered for any potential European transfer of Sesane and how that would effect his evaluation.

"You know what they have done now is that they are adding a clause which stipulates that if he moves to Europe and then that club sells him before he turns 30 years of age then Pirates are entitled to 10% of the proceeds from that sale," said the second insider.

"You know they learnt a lesson from Lyle Foster when he moved from South Africa to Europe. They lost out a lot of money when he joined Burnley FC in England because there was no such clause in the contract of sale and with Thabiso (Sesane) that's what they are looking at adding in his sales contract and agreement. That's why his value at the moment lies at around R25m. They are looking at future benefits as well," the second source added.

24-year-old Sesane has been a prominent figure for the Buccaneers this season, participating in nearly every game, including the PSL, the MTN8, the Carling Knockout, and the CAF Champions League.

His impressive form has garnered the attention of Montpellier, who are keenly monitoring his progress.
