The story

It has been around eight months since Luke Fleurs tragically lost his life in a car hijacking at a petrol station in Florida, Johannesburg, in early April. His family continues to mourn the loss of their youngest son.

The passing of the 24-year-old former South African youth international left the local football fraternity shattered, with supporters left saddened by yet another life been cut short due to violent crime.

'Pellas', who joined Kaizer Chiefs in October 2023, had his life and memory honoured by his "original crew" as described by his older sister, Sydni on Instagram.

Fleurs' big sis revealed in a touching Instagram post that her father wanted to build Luke's wall of fame to display all the gear, accolades and other forms of memorabilia to celebrate his achievements in professional football.

Sydni planned a lovely surprise for her parents to commemorate eight months since her little brother's passing, writing, "I gathered Luke's original crew, the first bunch of real friends that he absolutely loved!

"We decided to hand over eight canvases, each with sentimental memories knowing that it has been eight months since he left us with absolute madness. My parents were so overwhelmed by the love and they explained that even though we are not celebrating Christmas this year, this amount of joy was exactly what they needed," shared Syndi.
